The first generation L200 was first sold in Japan as the Mitsubishi Forte, which housed a 1.6-litre engine, this was later updated to offer both a 1.6-litre and a 2.0-litre engine. Export markets benefited from further engine options, including a 2.0-litre petrol engine, a 2.6-litre petrol, as well as the popular 2.3-litre diesel engine, with the 1.6-litre Saturn engine finishing off the lineup in a range of countries. The fourth generation featured a 2.5-litre turbodiesel engine delivering 180hp, however some markets had a 2.5-litre normally aspired diesel engine while the off-road version delivered 200hp.
The fifth generation, the current version of the L200, was first unveiled in 2014 but filtered out in to the markets in 2015. The L200, likewise with the rebadged Fiat Fullback, holds a new 2.4-litre diesel engine.
