Toyota Hi-Lux Clutch Kits
The Toyota Hilux, a popular model of pickup truck produced by Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota, was first produced in 1968 and has seen eight generations of the model bought to the market since.
The first generation Hilux was released as a short-wheelbase in Japanese market spec with a 1.5-litre engine with 76hp, which was subsequently upgraded to a 1.6-Litre in 1971. It was in 1969 that Toyota added a long-wheelbase version to the range.
In 1972 Toyota introduced the second generation Hilux, with this came an increase in engine size, now offering a 2.0-litre to sit alongside the 1.6-litre that featured before. In 1975 the Hilux got a drastic redesign, it was now much larger and saw an increase in the standard equipment it came with. The second generation Hilux was the first to arrive in the UK.
The third fourth and fifth generation Hilux spanned between 1978 and 1996, this time frame saw the first introduction of the 4×4 model of the Hilux, released in 1979. While this was a major development for Toyota, there was also a rapid increase in engine sizes during the period, with the fifth generation Hilux saw a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine being added in 1987.
In 1997 the sixth generation Hilux was released, featuring a 2.4-litre and a 3.0-litre naturally aspirated diesel engines. This generation saw some major developments in the car, but also with the perception, whilst the axels and suspension were reimagined in this edition, Toyota really tried to sell people both a work horse, but also a comfortable more sporty personal truck.
The seventh generation Hilux was produced in 2004, it was during this time that the Hilux increased in size and began to be considered a mid-sized pickup truck. The seventh generation saw two facelifts during its time, the first in 2008 and the second in 2011. The 2011 facelift featured changes to the external typing of the vehicle, as well as the new 3.0-litre turbodiesel engine delivering 144hp.
The most recent Hilux to the market, the eighth generation, was released in 2015, this model is available in three cab sizes, boasting improved capabilities from a strength and performance eye, as well as improvements to the design and features of the car. In early 2020 the Hilux saw yet another facelift, this time featuring a new more striking design, as well as a 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine.
